Bike-A-Thon

Join in our 25th annual Bike-A-Thon to benefit the year-round naturalist and adventure programs of Bethel Horizons. Enjoy biking or walking a section or the entire Military Ridge trail from Verona to Dodgeville. All participants will receive a Bike-A-Thon T-shirt as well as lunch, snacks and an evening meal at Bethel Horizons. All overnight accommodations (reservations necessary) are free for the weekend in our retreat centers and campground. A variety of prizes are offered to those who raise funds. Shuttles are available between towns.

 

Congregational Picnic

Cost: Food.

Enjoy a day in the country—a chicken BBQ dinner, pie and ice cream on the Farmhouse deck, music, hikes, hayrides, children’s games and more. The Art and Faith traveling group will preview their art fair projects throughout the afternoon. The Art Ventures studio will be open as well culminating with an art auction. The day will end with a Latino worship service, music and an evening brat and burger dinner. It’s a great day to renew old friendships and get acquainted with new Bethel members.

Clay Ventures

Cost: $450. Workshop fees include clay, American Players Theatre Tickets, room, board, tuition and firing fee. Housing is in our Prairie Center.

 

Young adults/adults are invited to a week exploring the magic of creating with clay. Enjoy our state-of-the-art studio complete with 30 electric wheels, two slab rollers and clay extruders, along with gas, electric, Raku and wood fire kilns. This workshop will be taught by Ryan Myers (UW Madison MFA Ceramic artist) with a visit by nationally known wood fire potter Ken Bichell (Dubuque, IA). Beginning to advanced levels are welcome. UW-Platteville credit (extra) available.

Our 28th year of bringing beginners to advanced clay lovers and guest artists together to use a state of the art ceramics facility with 30 electric wheels, two slab rollers and clay extruders, along with gas, electric, Raku and wood fire kilns. Taught by experienced, award-winning instructors of ceramics; see bios on the Art Ventures website (bethelhorizons-artventures.org) of Phil Lyons, Geof Herman, Linda Leighton, Stephanie O’Shaugnessy and other guest artists. UW Platteville credit (extra) is available.

Wisconsin Wood-Fire 2010

Cost: $350 program, room and board; $240 commuter and 2 meals.

Join the mystery and magic of a wood fire workshop at the Adamah Art Studio led by David Smith, Professor of Art at Edgewood College. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bisque ware or green ware for the loading and firing of the Adamah Wood Kiln. Accommodations and meal plan provided. Cost: $495. (Note: You will receive a discount of $195 by attending both the Professional Studio and Wisconsin Wood Fire 2010 Workshops).

Potters/Handbuilders~take a vacation from your studio. Come and enjoy our inspiring state of the art ceramics facility while being in community with others passionate about clay. Host artist will be Andre’e Valley (Madison Area Technical College) with guest visit by Bill Farrell (Retired Professor of Ceramics at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago) and Dolores Fortuna (Ceramics Instructor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago).
