Group Program Arrangements
Your group will need comfortable, outdoor-grade clothing suitable for current weather conditions. Participants should bring extra clothing if it looks to be cool, or wet (rain gear). Advise participants that they may encounter poisonous plants and pestiferous insects and should protect their bodies accordingly. Also, footwear should be solid to withstand mud, cold and moisture.
It is of course, easier to function and stay on task when one is dry and warm. Please share with your group the information you feel they need to hear. Also, brief other group leaders who may be accompanying the group on the purpose, procedures and outdoor nature of this experience.
Carry-In, Carry-Out Policy: In an effort to educate ourselves about our individual responsibilities of managing wastes, and to reduce the high volume of wastes which traffic Bethel Horizons, we have implemented a "No Waste" policy, modeled after the "Carry-In, Carry-Out" policy begun by the State Parks.
First, all groups are responsible for carrying out all wastes and recyclables which they bring in. Second, we are asking individuals to bring re-usable water containers with them to Bethel Horizons so as to eliminate the unnecessary and potentially prolific use of paper cups.
We urge group leaders to use this opportunity to challenge their members to see themselves as land stewards. Coolers and re-usable containers are examples of environmentally healthy options.
When you arrive, you may park your vehicle(s) in our parking lot near our camp sign. We will meet you at the parking lot.
See you soon!
