School Groups
Let's make memories!
Give your students a school day they will remember for the rest of their lives! We provide day-programs for grades 6 - 9.
Is Art Ventures really for us?
We think, YES! Feel free to come for a tour first, with or without your students. See our facilities and discuss your many options with one of our staff members. Call for an appointment or, if you're in the neighborhood, feel free to just drop by!
What's a typical day at Art Ventures like?
Usually, we teach throwing on the potter's wheel. We schedule them in small enough groups so they can each have their own wheel. We have hand-building tables for side projects or group projects. Younger students tend to need only a few hours in the studio (including clean-up). Older students, especially those with a bit of experience, often enjoy 2 sessions with a mid-day break. We can provide lunch for an additional fee.
Build on to one of our other programs!
Design an exciting outing day for your students. We're flexible and can work with you to come up with the right combination of program components. Maybe you'd like to pair your half-day Art Ventures experience with a half-day on the low-ropes course through our Adventure program. Or, while half of your students work in clay, the other half takes a hike with our on-staff naturalist.
We're reasonably priced.
We keep our prices as low as we can, so we can be accessible to you and your students. Some of our school groups are paid for directly by their school systems. Other teachers find resources like small grants from foundations or Arts Councils to supplement the fees. Each group is different, so please call or email us for an exact quote. Thank you!
We give lots of one-on-one instruction.
Our instructors are experienced potters and and hand-builders.
Krista Loomans, Aaron Weaver, Stephanie O'Shaughnessy or one of our other instructors will teach hand building or wheel throwing. If your group is larger than 15, we'll have more than one teacher. And if it's really large, we'll split it into 2 sessions, and find something else fun to combine with the clay experience, like a nature hike! In any case, we'll need chaperones from your school–one for every 4 students, please!
